UNIMAS Vice Chancellor, professor Datuk Dr. Mohamad Kadim Bin Suaid hosted the MoU document exchange ceremony at UNIMAS campus. Present in the ceremony were SHEDA’s President Dr Christopher Ngui, Deputy President Augustine Wong, Secretary-General Dr Richard Tan and Past President Hj Zaidi Ahmad. In attendance from UNIMAS were Associate Professor Ir. An engagement session on Cash Transaction Limit (CTL) was organised by Bank Negara Malaysia, held on the 15th January 2020 at BNM Office Kuching.

An engagement session on Cash Transaction Limit (CTL) was organised by Bank Negara Malaysia, held on the 15th January 2020 at BNM Office Kuching. The objective of the session is to seek the views of industry players on the proposed CTL measures. Six seats were allocated for SHEDA. Dr Christopher Ngui, Dr Richard Tan, Cr Sim Kiang Chiok, Louis Ting, Peter Lau and Dominic Su attended the said
session.

The attendance of the LAB is by invitation only. SHEDA Legal Committee and SKB Chairman attended the LAB on 7- 8 January 2020. Among other attendees are representatives from SAG, Land and Survey, Bomba, Local Councils, Engineering Board and some other industry players.
It was a lab whereby feedbacks and comments were solicited and discussed on the Draft Strata Management (Management and Maintenance) Regulations, 2020.

In the meeting the SHEDA Budget 2020 was adopted and the proposal on office renovation was endorsed.
Among other salient topics, the 2020 market outlook, the implementation of government policies and guidelines affecting the real estate industry as well as operational problems faced by the members were discussed.

GrrenRE, under REDHA, conducted a briefing on building sustainability to the Council and members of SHEDA on the 24/2/2020 at the SHEDA Conference Room.
The main objective of the briefing was to bring awareness to SHEDA members on sustainability in real estate industry. Towards this end, GreenRE aims to drive the real estate industry towards sustainable development by adoption of green initiatives.
The slides of the presentation by GreenRE will be shared electronically with all SHEDA members.

Courtesy Call to the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Urban Development and Natural Resources, Sarawak.

A delegate of Council Members and Kuching Branch Office Bearers, led by SHEDA President, Dr Christopher Ngui, made a courtesy call to YBhg Datu Sr Zaidi Mahdi, the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Urban Development and Natural Resources (MUDeNR), Sarawak.
During the courtesy call, a productive discussion session was held to deliberate issues that affect the housing and property development in the State. Among the topics of discussion were Reclassification of native land to mixed zone land; Sri Pertiwi Affordable Housing Scheme; Right of Ways as an alternative legal access requirement; Validity period of AVTC/Subdivision approval; and SESCO Conventional Substation site setback.
Meanwhile, Dr Christopher Nagui also pursued with YBhg on issues raised to YAB Chief Minister during SHEDA Annual Dinner 2019. The issues included Increasing Housing Density, Minimum land size for Starate Title and Starate Master Plan for development.

A delegate of Council Members and Kuching Branch Office Bearers, led by SHEDA President, Dr Christopher Ngui, made a courtesy call to YBhg Datu Sr Zaidi Mahdi, the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Urban Development and Natural Resources (MUDeNR), Sarawak.
During the courtesy call, a productive discussion session was held to deliberate issues that affect the housing and property development in the State. Among the topics of discussion were Reclassification of native land to mixed zone land; Sri Pertiwi Affordable Housing Scheme; Right of Ways as an alternative legal access requirement; Validity period of AVTC/Subdivision approval; and SESCO Conventional Substation site setback.
Meanwhile, Dr Christopher Nagui also pursued with YBhg on issues raised to YAB Chief Minister during SHEDA Annual Dinner 2019. The issues included Increasing Housing Density, Minimum land size for Starate Title and Starate Master Plan for development.
The Courtesy Visit was held on the 4th February 2020, at the Wisma Sumber Alam. It was aimed to establish a cordial working relationship between SHEDA and MUDeNR, in reducing cost of living for Sarawakian.

develop a Kuching Smart City Plan. A round-table discussion was held between SHEDA and SMA on
the 10th March 2020, to deliberate on initiatives of the Kuching Smart City Masterplan.
The SHEDA team comprising the Council members, led by the President, Dr Christopher Ngui
and Secretary-General, Dr Richard Tan, has provided constructive feedbacks to the SMA consultants,
in specific on the social and economic impacts on the Rakyat with the implementation of the
Kuching Smart City Masterplan. On dwelling with the pain points and challenges, the SMA
consultants complimented SHEDA by saying “you have let us know what we do not know”.

Among other industrial and market related topics, the meeting also conversed on the involvement of SHEDA in the Sarawak Economic Action Council and the proposed virtual property expo.
